To the Editor:
Carroll and Glenna Pennell took me in when I moved to Brunswick in December 2004. No one could have showed me more love than they did.
Joseph, in the Bible, was put in prison, too, for a little misunderstanding with Potiphar’s wife. Glenna and Carrol had a little misunderstanding with Uncle Sam.
The Times Record (“Ex- Brunswick pastor pleads guity to theft,” Nov. 19, Page A1) would not have written any articles about Joseph. He was only a slave. But a “servant of the Lord” like Jimmy Swaggert, Jimmy Baker and Carroll Pennell gets plenty of print time. Crucifixion is too good for the three of them. They must be “killed” over and over in print.
I say they are all human like you and I are. I say anyone who is more righteous than the three of them should “cast the first stone.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
