AFTER YEARS of preparation and work, three Brunswick Scouts from Troop 648 earned their rank of Eagle at an Eagle Board of Review on Nov. 2. The Scouts, Sean Scanlon, Adam Thacker and Kyle Bennett, had to review all of their past accomplishments and discuss with the board why their achievements merited earning the coveted rank. Each Scout also presented their final project, the Eagle service project for review. “Kyle, Sean and Adam did an amazing job,” Jonathan Giles, scoutmaster for Troop 648, said. “ To put in the time and effort needed to achieve this goal is impressive. With so many other commitments that these Scouts faced, it is a testament to their dedication and hard work that these Scouts earned their Eagle rank.” To become an Eagle Scout a young man needs to complete a series of merit badge educational opportunities that include First Aid, Communication, Cooking and Citizenship in the World among others. The Scout must also take on leadership positions and work with other Scouts to accomplish tasks. A celebration of the effort that each Scout made in achieving this final rank will take place in the near future.
