
Maynard was born in Madison, Maine October 15, 1922 the second of four children to Wilfred and Ezalie Henderson. As a young boy he lived in Madison and Brewer Maine. In 1942 he graduated from South Lancaster Academy and attended Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts. He married Geneva Quittmeyer on March 15, 1943. They celebrated 70 years together before Geneva’s passing in 2013.
Maynard served our country in the United States Army from 1945 until his discharge. He received a Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, and a World War II Victory Ribbon.
Maynard owned and operated Henderson’s Poultry Farm and Trucking business in Hermon, Maine from 1946 until 1960. He was awarded multiple times as “The Best Maine Poultry Farmer of the Year.” From 1960 until his retirement in 1993 he owned the Brunswick Dental Laboratory.
Maynard and Geneva loved their large beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. They had great pleasure with sharing their produce and flowers with all their neighbors and friends. Maynard’s other hobbies were birding, collecting minerals and fossils, stamp collecting, snowmobiling, and camping.
Maynard and Geneva enjoyed traveling with their camper to nearly every state including Alaska, Canada, Newfoundland, and Labrador. They spend many pleasurable years at their “Wampum Island” camp on Philips Lake.
Maynard was a life member of the Seventh Day Adventist church serving as elder and deacon. He loved the Bible and spoke often of his faith, heaven, and the soon coming of Jesus.
Maynard loved his dear wife, children, grandchildren, and cherished family times together. He will be greatly missed by family and many dear friends.
He leaves behind 5 children. Marion VanArsdale and husband Rick of Harrison, Tennessee. Patricia Fisher and husband Rodney and Panama City, Florida. R. John Henderson of Zellwood, Florida. Beverly Snow and husband Bill of Oxford, Maine. James Henderson of Brunswick, Maine. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Judith Sammer Henderson, a sister-in-law Mary Henderson, and many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Maynard will be held at a later time that will be announced.
