TOPSHAM — Thursday marked the final countable games for the high school field hockey season.
In Class A North, it appears Mt. Ararat (9-4-1) has claimed the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 Cony (7-6-1) for a quarterfinal.
The Eagles and Rams met Sept. 7 in Topsham, with Cony leaving with a 3-1 win.
Brunswick finished 5-9 and missed out on the postseason.
In Class B North, Morse needed wins over Oceanside and Mt. View to have a chance at the playoffs. Kerri Reno’s squad did the job and has claimed the No. 9 seed.
The Shipbuilders (9-5) are headed to No. 8 Nokomis (7-5-2) for a Saturday preliminary at 10 a.m.
The teams didn’t face-off during the regular season.
Freeport had a solid 9-4-1 campaign, earning the No. 4 seed in Class B South.
The Falcons appear to be on a collision course with No. 5 Lake Region (7-7), a team Freeport handled in a 1-0 win back on Sept. 8 in Naples.
And in Class C South, it was a tough 2-10-2 regular season for Julie Petrie’s Lisbon Greyhounds.
However, a big 1-1 tie with Class C North top seed Winthrop gave the ’Hounds a ton of points, with Lisbon garnering the No. 8 seed.
The Greyhounds have earned a home prelim on Saturday against No. 9 Traip Academy (4-9-1) of the Western Maine Conference. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
