Nick Merrill scored off a throw-in from Dalton Streeter as the Mt. Ararat High School boys soccer team slipped past Cony, 1-0, in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference action on Thursday.

Merrill’s goal came with 21:03 left in regulation.

Mt. Ararat (4-2-2) outshot and out-cornered the Rams, 8-1, with Cony goaltender Hussein Al-Abraihi making seven saves.

Eagles netminder Gavin Patterson made one save for the shutout.

Jared McLaughlin scored four goals to power the Ramblers to a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Wolverines.

Matt Martin picked up a goal and an assist for Wiscasset (1-7), with Brian Foye, Max Samson and Jacob Grady adding a goal apiece.

Rowan Goebel-Bain added two goals for Winthrop.

Wiscasset visits Carrabec on Monday.

CAMDEN HILLS — Brunswick scored a pair of second-half goals, but fell short to the Camden Hills Windjammers, 4- 2, in KVAC play.

The Dragons fell behind early behind first- half goals from Halsey Yattaw, Megan Gordon and Lexi Tinch for the Windjammers .

Despite giving up a fourth goal, Brunswick (3- 7) didn’t quit in the second half. The Dragons put 14 shots on goal and had six offensive corners, in which they scored on two of them. Seniors Anna Rider and Hollie Imperato each scored on assists from Lauren Jacobs and Gia Guernelli.

Brunswick outshot the Windjammers (4-5), 18-13 and held an 8-5 advantage in corners.

Volleyball

BRUNSWICK — Greely jumped ahead early and downed Brunswick, 3-0, inside the BHS gymnasium.

The Rangers captured set wins of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-14 in dropping the Dragons to 5-5 on the season with a visit to Wells set for Tuesday at 6 p.m.

“The scores don’t reflect the game Brunswick played,” said Dragons coach Kaili Phillips. “Brunswick had scrappy defense and won many long rallies against the defending state champions.”

Leading the way for Brunswick were Sophie Katz (four digs), Kathleen Trapp (four digs, two kills), Mackenzie Burrows (three kills) and Morgan Johnson (two kills). Johnson, Burrows and Trinity Turcotte were blocking presence at the net.

Girls soccer

AUGUSTA — Mt. Ararat

evened its record to 3-3-1 with a 2-0 KVAC win over Cony.

Jessica Cloutier (assisted by Ryley Leech) and Reese Turcotte (Leech) slipped a goal each into the cage for the Eagles.

In goal, Zoe Stilphen picked up the win in goal, while Rams (0-8-1) goaltender Kiara Henry had 20 saves.

Mt. Ararat hosts Bangor on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
