BRUNSWICK

The Brunswick High School field hockey team ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over Hampden Academy in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference action on Monday.

The Dragons improved to 3- 6 and visits Camden Hills on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Brunswick’s losing skid began with a 3-0 loss to the Broncos on Sept. 12. On Monday, Shea Sullivan scored just 51 seconds into the game off an assist from Erin Coughlin for a quick 1-0 Brunswick lead.

Mallory Palmer, assisted by Rosie White, scored just before the three-minute mark as the Brunswick lead grew to 2-0.

After the Dragon defense and goaltender Ainsley Harrower shut down four consecutive Hampden corners, Rosie White made it a 3-0 contest off an assist from Anna Rider at 6:32 of the opening half.

Rider scored Brunswick’s final goal.

Abby Lyons tallied a goal in the second half for the Broncos.

Harrower finished with six saves.

The Seahawks used a strong second-half to pull away from the Greyhounds in Mountain Valley Conference play.

Boothbay (8-1) led 2-1 at the half, with Lisbon’s goal coming from Savannah Czechalski for a 1-0 lead.

Chloe Arsenault tied it for Boothbay, and Sydney Meader made it a 2-1 game.

In the second half, Sydney Mercier, Arsenault and Lexi Lane scored as Lisbon fell to 1- 6-1.

Emily Amaral had six saves in the win, while Lisbon netminder Mikaylia Harnden had 13 stops.

The Greyhounds host Mountain Valley on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Volleyball

KENNEBUNK — Brunswick/Mt. Ararat dropped a 3-0 decision to Kennebunk.

The Dragons are 4-4 heading into tonight’s matchup with Lake Region at 6 p.m. inside the BHS gymnasium.

The Rams captured set scores of 28-26, 25-22, 25-16.

Sophia Katz led Brunswick with five kills and one ace. Morgan Johnson picked up two kills and five digs, Emma Dorr two kills and five assists, and Trinity Turcotte two kills.

WISCASSET — Grace Webber scored the only goal with 17:40 remaining in regulation as Wiscasset came away with a 1-0 MVC win over Carrabec.

The 6-2 Wolverines, who host Winthrop on Wednesday at 6 p.m., received 13 saves from Lindsey Gordon in the win.

On the winning goal, Sarah Foley sent a pass ahead to Webber. Her shot snuck between Carrabec goaltender Ashley Cates (seven saves) and the post.

The Cobras fell to 2-3-2.
