BRUNSWICK — Mt. Ararat came back from a 2-0 deficit at halftime to down Brunswick, 3-2 in boys high school freshman soccer action recently.
The win lifts the Mt. Ararat squad to its first win of the season.
In a game played well by both teams, the Dragons took an early lead behind Conlan Storer’s two goals. Lucas Spiro and goalkeeper Liam Hemberger assisted on the goals.
Jessie Dasch got Mt. Ararat on the scoreboard three minutes into the second half (unassisted), followed by an unassisted goal by Owen Yabsira 12 minutes later.
Addison Rineer scored the decisive goal, assisted by Jessie Dasch on a crossing pass with 15 minutes remaining.
From there, strong goaltending from Mt. Ararat goalkeeper Noah Magda (six saves) kept the Dragons from tying. Liam Hemberger made three saves for Brunswick while providing a strong defensive presence to limit Mt. Ararat’s scoring chances.
Brunswick’s record dropped to 1-3-1, as it hosts the Hall-Dale jayvees this Saturday at Brunswick. Kickoff is at 11 a.m.
