BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College sophomore forward Kara Finnerty has been selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Offensive Player of the Week.
Finnerty came through in the clutch last week as she scored key goals in three wins for the Polar Bears. She scored the game’s only goal 8:03 into overtime for a 1-0 win at Bates, and on Sunday notched the game-tying goal in the second half against Williams.
Finnerty went on to tally the game-winner in overtime for a 3-2 victory against the Ephs in a matchup of teams ranked in the top 15 nationally.
Finnerty also tallied a goal and an assist in a 6-0 win against Wesleyan to finish the week with four goals and an assist in three victories.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday with another conference matchup, this time against Middlebury. Bowdoin takes the field at 11 a.m.
