The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has charged five people with unlawful trafficking in heroin/fentanyl and cocaine — two from Bath and another from Brunswick, after investigating a drug overdose reported in Bath Sunday.
According to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, a substantial amount of drugs and several firearms were seized as a result.
The investigation and arrests were conducted by a team of agents from the Mid-Coast, Cumberland and York District Task Forces of MDEA.
Charged were:
• Devyn Pushard, 21 of Bath for unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs, Class B
• Molena Ward, 19 of Bath for unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs, Class B
• Kimberly Lermond, 34 of Brunswick for unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs, Class B
• Ales Mena, 20 of Lawrence, Massachusetts for unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs, Class B
• Glenn Hagan, 25 of Biddeford for unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs, Class B
Agents from the MDEA Mid-Coast District Task Force conducted a follow-up investigation after a non-fatal overdose was reported in Bath on Sunday. Drug agents conducted surveillance of Devyn Pushard as he traveled from Bath along with Molena Ward and Kimberly Lermond to the Walmart parking lot in Biddeford Monday afternoon.
Mid-Coast agents along with agents from the York District Task Force continued surveillance until Glenn Hagan of Biddeford arrived delivering 42 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl to the three. All four were taken into custody by agents and Biddeford Police without incident. Hagan and Pushard were arrested and transported to the York County Jail. Ward and Lermond were summonsed to court and released at the scene.
Agents also searched Hagan’s Biddeford apartment and seized approximately 140 grams of cocaine, 180 grams of heroin/fentanyl, 9 firearms, and $4,860 dollars in suspected drug proceeds. The estimated street value of the drugs is $41,000.
Continuing the investigation agents then arranged to meet the suspected supplier of the drugs and an undercover agent from the Cumberland District Task Force met with Ales Mena of Lawrence, Massachusetts at the Maine Mall in South Portland. Mena was arrested as he delivered about 50 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl to the agent. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail where bail was set at $25,000 cash.
Assisting MDEA throughout the day were officers and police dogs from the Biddeford and South Portland police Departments.
