Four members of the Bowdoin College men’s lacrosse team were honored in All-New England Small College Athletic Conference awards handed out on Thursday.
Matthew Crowell was named First Team All- NESCAC for the Polar Bears, while Brett Kujala, Daniel Buckman and Parker Sessions were recognized as Second Team selections. All players are members of the junior class.
Crowell was promoted to the First Team after being a Second Team choice last year. The second-leading scorer for the team out of the midfield, he tallied 29 goals and finished with 33 points to rank fourth on the squad overall. Through three seasons, Crowell has scored 73 goals and owns 93 points.
Kujala was Bowdoin’s leading scorer this spring, carding 43 goals and six assists. He became Bowdoin’s 35th player to surpass 100 career points this year and stands at 111 in his career (99 goals, 12 assists). Daniel Buckman was one of Bowdoin’s most balanced scorers this year, tallying 21 goals and 17 assists to rank third on the team with 38 points. He has 86 career points in 45 career games for the Polar Bears. Parker Sessions helped back-line a Bowdoin defense that permitted 10.99, ranking fourth in the league. He finished among the team’s leaders with 11 caused turnovers and ten groundballs this year.

Bowdoin placed three members on the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference team announced by the league on Thursday. Junior Hannah Hirschfeld was joined by first-years Caroline Maxwell and Kara Finnerty as Second Team selections.
Hirschfeld finished as Bowdoin’s leading goal scorer this season, totaling 38 goals and nine assists to finish with a career-high 47 points. Finnerty burst onto the scene with 40 points in her rookie campaign – the most by a Polar Bear first-year since 1997 (Adrienne Gratry ‘00, 43 points), ending with 27 goals and 13 assists to go with a team-high 24 caused turnovers and 40 draw controls. Caroline Maxwell led the Polar Bear defensive corps, causing 13 turnovers and standing second on the team with 21 groundballs.
The Polar Bears finished their season with a record of 10-6, reaching the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament.
