TOPSHAM
Topsham police summonsed an 18-year-old for criminal mischief Wednesday night in relation to vandalism at a Mt. Ararat High School practice field discovered early Wednesday morning.
Topsham Police Chief Chris Lewis said police charged Tristan Olyphant, 18, of Topsham with Class D criminal mischief. Lewis said Olyphant is a senior at Mt. Ararat High School.
Lewis said Chris Shaw, the facilities director for School Administrative District 75, drove up on a vehicle tearing up the practice field on Republic Avenue, currently used by the lacrosse team. The Ford Explorer drove away but Shaw was able to give the license plate number to police. He reported the incident at 5:17 a.m. Wednesday.
Mt. Ararat High School Principal Donna Brunette said Wednesday morning that if the person involved in the vandalism is a student, they could face discipline through the school as well.
The field will need repair, Brunette said.
