BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin sophomore Brandon Lopez has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Lopez was outstanding on Friday against Trinity, sparking a three-game weekend sweep for the Polar Bears against the Bantams.
Lopez tossed a complete game, allowing no earned runs against Trinity in a 3-1 Polar Bear win. He struck out seven batters and scattered four hits with one walk in the victory. He also helped himself at the plate, going 3-for-4 and drove in two of Bowdoin’s three runs in the game.
For the week, Lopez batted .615 in four wins, reaching base at a .762 clip. He scored a pair of runs and had four RBIs for the week, finishing with a 1.531 OPS.
The Polar Bears improved to 11-12 with a win against Thomas on Monday afternoon and extended their winning streak to a season-best five games. They will return to action tonight at Husson at 7 p.m.
