PHIPPSBURG – “Magnificent setting” may be an overused phrase, but it is
perfectly appropriate, and possibly even an understatement, here at
Sister Point.

The perfectly private, 2.4-acre property has 1,000 feet of deepwater,
protected-anchorage frontage, with a little rocky cove on either side,
and a little beach a couple of minutes’ walk away. The view due south is
out to the open Atlantic. To the east are Hermit Island and the entrance
to Small Point channel, from which you will see racing sailboats emerge.
On this same peninsula is Sebasco Harbor Resort, its golf course,
restaurants and more a very short drive away.

That’s in the unlikely event that one would ever wish to leave this
1,930-square-foot, single-level home, which was built in 1968 but
completely renovated over the past decade, so that it is effectively
new. The recently updated, dine-in kitchen is done in white (appliances,
cabinets) with blue accents including pendant light fixtures and bright
flecks in the grey, granite counters. The adjacent office/dn can serve
as a fourth/guest bedroom, especially with a spa bath hand next door.
Floors, where not tiled, are oak. The home has both a living room, with
an elevated, wood-burning brick fireplace; and on the water side, a
great room.

Here beneath exposed beams the brick fireplace is set up
with a woodstove on tile hearth, and has a wood box and a 10-foot
antique beam (from salvage) as its mantel. Full-view doors open to the
deck, and picture windows frame the ocean and island views.
The home’s west wing houses three bedrooms, with the master suite and
bath (note the blue-and-sunflower porcelain sink from Mexico) facing the
ocean. Good-sized second and third bedrooms present views of Fish House
Cove, and are served by a full bath.

The daylight, walkout basement provides plenty of workshop/storage
space, and there’s also a shingled garden shed large enough for kayaks
as well as tools and grill. The beautifully landscaped grounds include a
circular raised bed of stone. Wildlife visitors – e.g. otters, great blue
herons and other big birds – are a source of endless fascination, and
the striper fishing is first-rate.

The home, 30 Sister Point, Phippsburg, is listed for sale at $1,459,000
