Mark McFarland

WESTBROOK – Mark David McFarland died at the age of 61 on April 28, 2023 in Westbrook. He was born in Portland on Dec. 31, 1961 to Walden K. and Virginia D. McFarland.

Mark was a devoted full time employee to the Portland Press Herald for 46 years. He started as a paper delivery boy at the age of 15 and gradually moved up the ranks to press operator. He saw the company through the location change from downtown Portland to South Portland, as well as many leadership changes. In addition, Mark also worked part time at Tech Metrics Inc., an auto repair shop in Portland.

Mark graduated from Deering High School in 1980 and received his certificate from Portland Regional Vocational Technical Center (now Portland Arts and Technology High School) in automotive studies. He was known to be very passionate in the topics of weather, history, motorcycles, and the best travel routes.

Mark also enjoyed rock n’ roll music and could be found in his spare time listening to Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen, and other rock legends’ hits.

He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Connie McFarland (formerly Lunney) of Westbrook; his children Ryan McFarland of Westbrook and Nicole McFarland of Boston, Mass.; and brother, Wayne McFarland of Portland.

There will be no funeral services held at this time.
