BRUNSWICK – Frank W. Broadbent Sr., was born on April 29, 1931, in Buffalo, N.Y., and died in Brunswick on Dec. 18, 2023, where he and his wife, Peggy, retired.
He was a passionate educator and received his undergraduate degree in early childhood education from Northwestern University and his Doctorate of Education from Rochester University. He also taught at Drake University and SUNY Brockport and retired as a Professor of Education at Syracuse University. Frank served in the Navy, and during retirement was active in the Casco Bay Navy League as secretary and Maine School Science Volunteers. He was also an inventor of the game Contig, and numerous math and word games.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his sharp wit, generosity, and kindness.
He is survived by his son, Frank Wiliam Jr.,”Bill”; his daughter, Susan Broadbent; three grandchildren; and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Peggy; parents, William C. and Irene (Kew) Broadbent.; and his son-in-law, Richard Dahlquist.
There will be a memorial event to scatter his ashes in the spring, on the pond where his wife, Peggy’s ashes were scattered. Memories and condolences may be shared at http://www.legacy.com
