Catherine May
SACO – Catherine May, 57, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Catherine was born in Subic Bay, Philippines at the U.S Naval Station Hospital on June 22, 1967, daughter to Veronica (Durban) and Alvin “Gene” Anderson.
She graduated from Marion County High School of Illinois in 1985. Catherine went on to join the U.S. Navy where she served as a Chaplin’s assistant for four years. Following her discharge and the birth of her children, she graduated from Andover College as a medical transcriptionist. Later, she returned to Kaplan University to certify in medical billing and coding.
Catherine had a strong work ethic, often holding multiple jobs to support her family. She worked various jobs including factories, shops, restaurants, department stores and medical offices. She loved the time she had with her nieces and nephew, nannying for many years. She returned to the medical field as a receptionist to eventually become office manager. Catherine continued pouring herself wholeheartedly into each job she had thereafter. Most recently, she was a client service representative for Acadia Health Care.
Her hobbies include crocheting, fishing, karaoke, listening to music, trivia and watching the classic ‘I Love Lucy’. She loved cooking for the whole neighborhood and sharing meals together. She had an ardent love for her bowling leagues, where she enjoyed the opportunity to travel and meet many wonderful people. With a heart of gold, she would do all that she could for anyone who crossed her path.
Above all else, she was a devoted mother. She cherished having all her kids together and she loved listening to her grandchildren’s laughter. She will be missed beyond measure. May she be remembered as the loving, warm, humble and kind to the core woman that she was.
She was predeceased by her father, Alvin “Gene” Anderson, mother, Veronica (Durban) Simpson; and her brother, David Anderson.
She is survived by four children, Ronald Tringle III, Toni Kilcollins and her husband Jordan, Samantha Berlin and her husband David, and Emily Blake. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Madison Kilcollins, Mackenzie Kilcollins and Murphy Berlin.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach at 1 p.m. on Friday Oct. 25, followed by a celebration of life at Jumping Jake’s.
