Roxana Lucille Trimmer
WESTBROOK – Roxana Lucille Trimmer (née Stiles), loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024. Roxi, as many called her, was born in a farmhouse in Monticello, on June 20, 1940. She was a “county” girl and proud of it!
In addition to being a devoted mother and homemaker, Roxana worked at Fairchild National Semiconductor before transitioning to a career in education. She had a deep love for education. After earning her diploma from Stearns High School in Millinocket, she continued her studies, earning degrees from Husson College, Southern Maine Community College, and the University of Southern Maine. However, academics were not her only strong suit; Roxi was voted “Sweetheart of Sigma Chi” during her time at Husson.
Roxana was an extremely gifted needle artist. Her grandmother taught her to knit when she was just four years old, and she never stopped! She could knit, crochet, quilt, macramé, and do needlepoint, to name just a few of her crafty skills. She passed these skills on to countless others, as well as the beautiful fruits of her labor! She was a member of several knitting, crocheting, and quilting groups, as well as the Embroidery Guild of America.
She loved traveling with her adoring husband of 50 years, Chester Delmar Trimmer. They enjoyed taking drives and road trips, especially their yearly pilgrimage to Ocean City, Maryland.
She was predeceased by her husband Chester Trimmer, her parents Susan Hall (née Rush), Edwin Stiles, and George Hall. She is survived by her five loving children: Christopher Trimmer of Freeport, Gregory Trimmer of Westbrook, Jeffrey Trimmer and his partner Debra of Steuben, Jonathan Trimmer and his wife Julie of Standish, and Jessica Trimmer of Portland. Roxana has eight beloved grandchildren: Chris Jr., Curtis, Tegan, Allison, Patrick, Lucas, Jacob, and Bella, as well as a new great-granddaughter, Lucy. Roxana is also survived by her two cherished sisters, Constance Smart and Katherine Cyr, both of Brewer, along with a large and loving group of nieces and nephews throughout Maine and Pennsylvania.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, October 29, at Hobbs Funeral Home, located at 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by Words of Remembrance at 11 a.m. A Committal Service will follow immediately at Brooklawn Memorial Park, located at 2002 Congress St., Portland.
Heartfelt thanks to Carmel and Lisa for making the unbearable a little easier.
Roxana was many things in this world, but to us, she was the world. We will miss her and love her always.
