Maynard L. Whitehouse

HOLLIS – Maynard L. Whitehouse, 92, passed away on Nov. 3, 2024, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Hollis on June 9, 1932, a son of the late Alfred and Velma (Clay) Whitehouse.

After attending Hollis schools, Maynard proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After being honorably discharged, Maynard began his working years at Rogers Fibre. He later worked at Haskell’s Lumber and retired from Bear Hill Lumber where he scaled logs and was a forklift operator.

He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, and most importantly- being with his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years whom he wed on June 30, 1956 – Barbara (Cole) Whitehouse; his daughter – Sandra Brown; and all his siblings – Merton and Walter Whitehouse, and Olive Moulton, Arlene Pitts, and Evelyn Raychard.

Maynard is survived by his children – Robbie Whitehouse and his wife Becky of Hollis, Lucien “Duke” Whitehouse and his wife Kathi of Hollis, and Tony Whitehouse of Hollis; grandchildren – Sonia, Megan, Amber, Shawn, Amanda, Jessica, Ryan, Felicia, Lacey, and Xander; and great-grandchildren – Tyler, Tea, Christopher, Elise, Logan, Timothy, Austin, Alexis, Aaron, Cameron, Cole, Noah, and Jamison.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m., funeral service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Burial with U.S. Army Honors will follow at Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Hollis where he will be laid to rest next to his wife – Barbara.
