Robert J. Blake Sr.

GRAY – Robert J. Blake Sr., 84, of Gray, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born on June 2, 1940, in Gray, Robert was the son of Harold and Barbara (Askey) Blake. He attended Gray schools and Pennell Institute.

Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a fulfilling career as a heavy equipment operator and also spent time as a chef in Florida during the winter months and in Lake Placid, N.Y., during the summers. His love for family and passion for life were evident in everything he did, especially his role as a proud father and “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob shared many wonderful memories with his family, particularly through his love of boat racing, a passion he shared first with his father and later with his sons. He achieved great success in this pursuit and cherished the time spent on the water. Over the years, Bob enjoyed many hobbies, including skiing, golfing, and, in his later years, dedicating time to his beloved dogs, Maggie and Poppet.

He is survived by his sons, Bobby and Brent Blake, and his wife Cindy; his late son, Brad Blake; his grandchildren Josh Corbeau, Haley and Colton Blake, Justin Blake and his wife Jill; and great-grandchildren Quinn and Emma. He is also survived by his longtime companion and the mother of his sons, Beverly Blake. Bob is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Wing and Cindy Boyce, both of Gray, along with several nephews.

Bob’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, his work, and his passions. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
