Robert Owen Penny
PORTLAND – Robert Owen Penny, known to many as “BP”, passed away at the age of 75 on May 24, 2025, at Maine Medical Center from complications following a car accident on Jan. 12, 2025. A prolific figure of Portland, Maine, a bouncer, arm wrestler, and body builder, Bob was larger than life in every sense.
He was an avid baseball fan with an uncanny memory, citing statistics and players long before his time and recalling even the smallest details of an event. His passion for baseball was only surpassed by the love and pride he felt for his children and grandchildren.
Bob was a kind-hearted and charitable man who touched the lives of many around him and found true joy in helping others. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all that knew him.
Bob is survived by his children Travis Penny and Jessica Penny; his granddaughter who he loved so much, Rachel Penny; his brother Michael Penny, and his sister Carolyn Chute.
