Martin B. Dassa
PORTLAND – Martin B. Dassa, 87, passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, 2025, at The Cedars in Portland. He was born in 1938 to Allegra and Gabriel Dassa and and raised in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. He was the baby brother to Julie and Issac. Devoted husband to Shelley, patient father to Alyssa and Glenn, father-in-law to Lauren, Grandpa to his favorite grandson Zach, and Uncle Marty to his beloved nieces and nephews. Marty proudly graduated from Pratt Institute in 1968, and after a time at McKim, Mead & White Architects he moved to Montclair, N.J., where he raised his family and built a career in Architecture and Real Estate Development across Northern New Jersey. Later in life Marty and Shelley moved to Maine to enjoy traveling, hiking, entertaining, and explored creative outlets such as blacksmithing and fine carpentry while he wasn’t examining his eyelids. Marty was a lifelong member of the Sephardic Jewish Brotherhood of America and the Sephardic Jewish Center of Canarsie where his father Gabriel was a founding member.
Services will be held on Friday Dec. 5, 2025 at 11 a.m., at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, N.J.
Shiva will be observed on Sunday December 7 from 12 to 4 p.m., at 13-26 11th St., Fair Lawn, N.J.
