Darrell M. Huff

SCARBOROUGH – Darrell M. Huff, 78, of Scarborough, passed away on Sunday Dec. 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 9, 1947, in Westbrook. Darrell attended Scarborough schools and graduated in 1965. Then he enlisted into the military, where he served over three years in the Airforce, being sent to Vietnam at a young age. After serving his country and becoming a Vietnam Veteran, he returned home and in 1969 Darrell married the love of his life, Elizabeth Huff. Together they built a strong and loving family and shared many years of partnership. He was a proud father to three children: Amy Huff Green, Cory Huff, and Brandon Huff. Darrell’s greatest joy was his family, especially his six grandchildren, whom he adored. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with them and took pride in attending as many of their events and milestones as possible.

He worked for Bath and Iron Works for several years before changing career paths, working for the Post Office as a machine mechanic, (MPE). He retired from the Post Office in 2014 when he became deeply involved in his community and took great pride in his membership with the Grange. He was a member National Grange, Officer and served on Executive committee for the Maine State Grange, and Officer in Cumberland County Pomona. He also served as a Past Master Oakhill Grange and Member of North Scarborough Grange, offices Pomona, and roles he held with honor and dedication. His commitment to service extended to his faith as well. Darrell was a deacon at Scarborough Free Baptist Church, where he was baptized for a second time this past summer; an experience that held deep personal meaning for him.

Known for his generous heart, Darrell was always willing to help anyone in need. He would drop everything to lend a hand, offering his time, skills, and compassion without hesitation. He was also extremely proud to learn that he was a Mayflower descendant, a discovery that brought him great joy and a strong sense of connection to history. When Darrell wasn’t helping those in need, he loved his time in the wood lot, making maple syrup in the winter and gardening every spring and summer. He enjoyed life to the fullest, bringing joy to his family and his friends. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him and while he’s not here physically, his spirit will always be part of our lives.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Densmore-Huff with 56 years of marriage; and three children, Amy Green-Huff (Arthur) of Saco, Cory Huff (Cheryl) of Dover, Fla. and Brandon Huff (Jillian) of Scarborough. Darrell enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren, Victoria, Lauren, Archer, Leo, Orion, and Pearl. Darrell is survived by sisters Janice Huff-Verill of Minot, and Carlene Huff-Wood of Scarborough. He is also survived by several nieces and nephew; along with extended family members, friends, and community members who will forever cherish the memories made with him over the years.

His kindness, faith, dedication to family, and unwavering willingness to serve others will leave an ever lasting legacy.

He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth O. and Viva A. Sinclair-Huff; and three brothers, Reginald, Duane, and Galen Huff.

A celebration of life will be held at Scarborough Free Baptist Church on Monday, Dec. 29 at 10 a.m., 55 Mussey Rd., Scarborough. To be followed by a full military grave site service at Brooklawn Cemetery for immediate family only.
