Doris Paulette Denison
SACO – Doris Paulette Denison of Saco, passed away on Christmas Eve of 2025.
She was born and raised in Biddeford to her loving parents, Wilfred and Theresa Durant on December 15, 1947. As she grew up, she attended Biddeford and Saco schools and was in the graduating class of ‘66.
During her career, Doris was well known as a very kind and generous person, dutifully caring for others through her love of cooking. She ran cafeterias for AVX in Biddeford and the Canteen in Portland, but the job that gave her the most fulfillment was being the culinary director of York Manor up until her retirement.
When Doris wasn’t working hard and caring for others, she enjoyed relaxing by sewing and gardening, and even cooking her favorite meals for her family. She also contributed to the American Red Cross and ASPCA, which were organizations that meant a lot to her.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Theresa Durant; and her sisters Lillian Morris and Patricia Martel.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, Arthur Denison; her son Michael Roberge, daughters Theresa Stevens, Melissa Penna, and Michelle Gattuso, stepsons Jeffrey Denison, Brian Denison and wife Maryanne; her sister, Arlene Rochefort and life partner Robert Estey, her brother-in-law, Allan Denison and his wife Ginnie; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford.
If you would like to remember Doris in a special way, please consider making a contribution in her name to ASPCA, an organization she truly cared about.
