Claircy Monique (Thibeault)
Bernier
BRUNSWICK – Claircy Monique Bernier left this world peacefully on Saturday Jan. 31, 2026 at the age of 96 after a short period of declining health. Claircy was the daughter of Ida (Desrosiers) and Ovila Thibeault. She was born on April 21, 1929 in Brunswick and spent her entire life there.
Claircy was a graduate of St. John’s School in Brunswick and attended Brunswick High School. Like many from her generation she started working early in her life and worked at a variety of jobs throughout her career. She would say that the job she she loved the most was that of being Memere to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She met her husband Larry (Laurent) through her brother Clarence. They were married in August of 1952 and started life in an apartment. It was in the early 1960s that they built a house on Palmer Street in Brunswick where Claircy continued to live for 63 years, 26 of those years independently after Larry’s death.
Claircy was predeceased by her parents; sisters Janel and Violet (Dee Dee), brothers Roger and Clarence; and her husband, Larry.
She is survived by her sons Steve (Rebecca) and Mark; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Carrie (Matthew) Thomas, Matthew (Janna), Sam and Kate; great-grandchildren, Dee, Margaret, Lucas, Noah and Wesley and Eva Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews, many who were very present in her life until the very end.
The family especially would like to thank the devoted staff of Dionne Commons. The staff provided the utmost professional and personal care for Claircy making her feel safe and at home. They would also thank the residents for accepting Claircy and her family into their lives and becoming friends with us all. They also thank Beacon Hospice for their support.
There will be no viewing at Claircy’s request. There will be a mass at St. Charles Church on McKeen Street in Brunswick on Thursday Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. Reception to follow.
