Cecile C. Hatch Laverriere
SCARBOROUGH – Cecile C. Hatch Laverriere passed away on Feb. 6, 2026, at the age of 94.
She was born on April 21, 1931, in Biddeford, the daughter of Romeo and Rita (Courtois) Labelle. She attended local schools and was a member of Good Shepard Parish and, formerly, of St. Mary’s Church in Biddeford. She was an active member of the Married Ladies Sodality (St. Mary’s Church), which conducted numerous fundraising activities for the church and school.
Cecile and her first husband, Philip S. Hatch Jr., were married in Biddeford on April 26, 1951. He passed away on June 29, 1994. While raising their two sons, they both supported Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League, and Senior League Baseball. She served as a Den Mother for many years with Cub Scout Pack 305 in Biddeford. She also helped her first husband form the Biddeford Senior League Baseball program in 1971, assisting behind the scenes as he worked diligently to establish a new baseball league for the community’s youth. She and her first husband seldom missed any of their sons’ athletic games or important school events, including college. They continued that tradition with their grandchildren.
Cecile was a stay-at-home mom until her sons reached school age. She then began working part-time in the Kennedy School (Biddeford) hot-lunch program, which began when the school was dedicated. She also worked in local retail stores and in the shoe manufacturing industry. She retired from Sebago Moc in Westbrook in 1991. In retirement, she volunteered in the cafeteria at Notre Dame School in Saco for many years until health issues prevented her from continuing.
On Nov. 22,1996, Cecile married Philip Laverriere in Biddeford. After serious health issues in early 2010, Phil became her dedicated at-home caregiver. She often called him her guardian angel. This period of their lives, marked by Phil’s unwavering care and Cecile’s resilience, is a testament to the power of love and dedication in the face of adversity.
Cecile was also predeceased by her parents and five siblings: three brothers, Roland, Robert, and Maurice Labelle, and two sisters, Margaret (Guillory) and Yvette (Mayleben). She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Philip Laverriere, of Biddeford.
Cecile lived her life as a shining example of how powerful and comforting a mother’s love for family can be. Throughout her lifetime, she joyously and unselfishly showered her two children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren with unconditional love. She is survived by two sons. Her oldest son, Philip S. Hatch III (Lucie), of Saco, and their three daughters, Jennifer Sirois (Ricky) of Saco, Stefanie Bradstreet (Jon) of South Portland, and Sarah Melanson (Jason) of Gorham. Her youngest son, David C. Hatch (Peggy), also of Saco, and their daughter, Erin Meritt (Matt), of Saco, and their son, Ryan (Rianne), of Saco. She is also survived by five great-granddaughters, Olivia Sirois, Sophia Sirois, Norah Melanson, Josie Melanson, and Cecilia Meritt, and three great-grandsons, Henry Bradstreet, Brady Hatch, and Hayden Hatch. She is also survived by four stepchildren, James Laverriere (Susan) of Kennebunk, John Laverriere (Karen) of Biddeford, Kathy Theriault (Steve) of Sanford, and Karen Larson (Mike) of Wilton, and their seven children.
An hour of visitation will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco followed by a funeral outside of mass at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford.
ln lieu of flowers, Cecile humbly requests that monetary donations be made to the Esther Residence, Inc., c/o Sister Elaine Lachance, Director, 409 Pool Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.
