Philip Edward Tinkham

PORTLAND – Philip Edward Tinkham, of Portland, passed on Dec. 26, 2025 at Maine Medical Center after complications from surgery.

A lifelong Portlander raised on Munjoy Hill, Phil was a proud PHS Bulldog, a 30-year Portland firefighter (badge #77), limo driver, and devoted Portland school bus driver. He was well-known across Portland for his easygoing nature, humor, and his love of Casco Bay, golf, and a good Miller Lite.

Phil is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane; children Chris, Sara, Ryan, and Amie; his sister Ruth (Robert) Briggs, his brother Francis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Anna Tinkham; his sister, June, and his brothers George and Don. Don passed shortly after Phil, and they will be honored together.

Phil will be profoundly missed by his friends, family, and community.

Services will be held March 7: funeral at 10 a.m. at Jones, Rich & Barnes, with a Celebration of Lives from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. See pressherald.com for additional details.
