Bruce Carmen Pike

KENNEBUNK – Bruce Carmen Pike, 82, of Kennebunk, passed away on Feb. 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised on the coast of Maine, Bruce lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a deep connection to the sea. A proud Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he answered the call of duty with courage and honor. After his time in the Navy, he continued serving his country as a civilian at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he worked with the same dedication that marked every chapter of his life. Upon retiring from the shipyard, Bruce fulfilled a lifelong dream and became a full-time lobsterman, rising before dawn to tend his traps in the cold waters off the Maine coast – a calling that perfectly suited his hardworking spirit and love for the ocean.

To those who knew him, Bruce was the steady heart of his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 56 years, MaryJean, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. He was a proud father to his daughter, retired Lieutenant Colonel Christine Mary Peyton, his late son, Casey Bruce Pike, and a cherished brother to Wayne Pike. His greatest joys were his three granddaughters, Emily Pike, Elena Pike, and Isabella Pike, who brought endless light and laughter into his life, and his two nephews, Brian and Devin Pike, whom he held close in his heart.

Bruce will be remembered for his gentle humor, his calloused hands that told stories of hard work and sacrifice, and the way he showed love through quiet acts of care – whether repairing something around the house, sharing stories from his days on the water, or simply sitting with loved ones in comfortable silence. He embodied the best of Maine: resilient, humble, and deeply rooted in family and tradition.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and a life well-lived. Though the harbor feels a little emptier without him, the lessons he taught and the love he gave will continue to guide his family for generations to come.

Bruce was predeceased by his mother, Priscilla (Brown) Pike, his father, Homer Pike; his sister, Pamela (Brown) Ott; and his son, Casey Bruce Pike.

He is survived by his wife, MaryJean Pike; his daughter, Christine Mary Peyton; his brother, Wayne Pike; three granddaughters, Emily Pike, Elena Pike, and Isabella Pike; his niece, Bonnie Bissonnette, and two nephews, Brian and Devin Pike.

A graveside service will be held in the Fall of 2026.
