Folk singer Paddy Mills will headline the next Side Door Coffeehouse open mic night on April 10 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick.
Signup for open mic begins at 6:45 p.m. and performances start at 7 p.m. Mills will take the stage from 8:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and free for children 17 and under.
Mills is a Maine-based folk singer and songwriter whose music carries the salt air of the North Atlantic and the stories of the people who live by it. Drawing inspiration from storytellers like Gordon Bok, Stan Rogers and David Mallet, Mills blends maritime imagery with a troubadour’s heart and a craftsman’s ear for detail. On stage, he brings an easy presence — part sailor, part storyteller — inviting listeners into his songs with humor and heart.
The Side Door Coffeehouse is a venue for local musicians and others (professional and amateur) to share their talents, and for residents and visitors of the Midcoast community to enjoy great entertainment and conversation in a relaxed setting. Organized by a group of volunteers from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick, the Side Door Coffeehouse operates on the second Friday of every month except August.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
