Multiple residents were displaced following a Thursday afternoon fire at an apartment building in Biddeford.

Units from the Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach fire departments responded to the fire at 13 Hazel St. at about 1:15 p.m., the Biddeford Fire Department stated in a news release.

The response was quickly upgraded to “all-hands,” the department said, pulling off-duty Biddeford firefighters into the response as well as additional units from nearby towns.

The fire was contained to an apartment on the second floor, but three other units in the building suffered smoke and water damage, according to the department.

“The entire building is not able to be occupied, and the Red Cross is working with the building owner and tenants to find temporary housing,” the Biddeford department stated.

No injuries were reported and the fire appears to be accidental, though it is still under investigation, the department said. Units cleared the scene around 2:45 p.m.
