A 46-year-old woman imprisoned at Maine Correctional Center in Windham died Monday.

Sonja Dupray died at about 3:45 p.m. on Monday in the presence of medical personnel, the Maine Department of Corrections said in a news release Tuesday.

Dupray began serving a 20-year sentence, with all but 12 years suspended, in 2019 for elevated aggravated assault, the department stated.

The Maine Office of the Attorney General and the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office were notified per Department of Corrections policy.

In keeping with its policy, the department did not release the cause of Dupray’s death.
