Two women who lead spin classes at a southern Maine cycling studio were injured in a South Carolina shooting Sunday.
Charleston police say they arrested a suspect who shot three people, including two “uninvolved bystanders,” early Sunday morning after a disagreement outside of a pizza restaurant. One person died, while both bystanders are expected to survive, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department.
Jibe Cycling Studio — which has locations in Portland and Yarmouth, as well as Charleston and Mount Pleasant, South Carolina — posted on social media Monday evening that two of its Maine employees were injured in the shooting.
Both women are stable and being cared for at the Medical University of South Carolina, according to the studio’s Instagram story. The cycling studio also posted links to two GoFundMe fundraisers, which identify the women as spin instructors.
“We are relieved to share that they are showing the same strength and spirit we know and love them for,” the studio’s social media post read.
