QUEBEC, Canada – Rebecca Thomas died peacefully at Memphrémagog Hospital (Quebec) on April 5, 2026 at the age of 85, with loved ones by her side.

Rebecca, known to many as “Becky”, was raised in Skowhegan, Maine. She came from a family with deep and enduring ties to Maine and the New England region. After graduating from the University of Maine, Orono, she taught middle school students for many years in Connecticut.

For much of her life she was rooted in Vermont, where she flourished as a devoted mother, community leader, and dealer of early American antiques. Rebecca worked for many years as a Thematic Interpreter at the Shelburne Museum, a role she adored as it combined her passions for antiques and teaching. She also donated her time to school theater productions and causes such as promoting literacy. Rebecca was a talented visual artist, quilt maker, and pianist, as well as a skilled player of bridge and checkers. She loved reading, laughter, and spending time with her family.

Rebecca is survived by her daughter, son, two sons-in-law, and three granddaughters.

Rebecca will be remembered for her strong will, zest for life, and frequent query – “Who has more fun than people?”
