A pedestrian was struck on Saturday by a vehicle following a two-car crash at the intersection of Turner and Center streets and the Union Street bypass in Auburn.
Witnesses told police that 21-year old Laci Cote of Auburn ran a red light around noon while turning left onto Turner Street in a northbound white SUV. Cote allegedly accelerated her pace, crashing into driver Steven Harvey, 50, of Lewiston, who was headed southwest on Center Street toward Union Street with a green light.
Cote’s vehicle then apparently struck an island and street sign in the center of Turner Street, began to roll and crashed into pedestrian Eric Powers, 36, who had been standing on the island. The vehicle then flipped onto its roof.
Cote and Powers both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Central Maine Medical Center.
Police are investigating the case and potential charges.
