Get a jump start on Independence Day festivities with a performance called Celebrate America! by Casco Bay Wind Symphony. The show is intended as a soundtrack of America that celebrates the country’s 250th anniversary and its many heroes. The program includes works by John Williams, Heather Hastings, J.P. Sousa and Leonard Bernstein, among others.

The Summer Sunsets Live events typically take place a few times a week at Thompson’s Point when there isn’t a concert. The family-friendly gatherings run through Sept. 11. Entry is free and your friendly dog is welcome. Each one features live music, local food trucks and a curated selection of beer, cocktails and nonalcoholic beverages, not to mention a gorgeous sunset right on the water. On Thursday, enjoy tunes from Kouchera (Haitian Konpa, soul and R&B). Friday’s band is fusion-jam act The Womps.

Caroline Rhea

Laugh it up on Friday night with Canadian comic and actress Caroline Rhea. You may know her as Aunt Hilda on the “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” series, or from several other roles the summertime Maine resident has played. As a comic, Rhea has starred in a number of comedy specials for HBO, Bravo and Showtime. With plenty of sass and a knack for hilarious storytelling and connecting with fans, this show promises to be a hoot.

‘Citizen Kane’

The 1941 drama “Citizen Kane” returns to the big screen to mark its 85th anniversary. Directed by and starring Orson Welles, the film traces the life of newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane. The mystery of his dying word, “Rosebud,” captivates reporters as Kane’s life is shown in childhood flashbacks to his years gaining tremendous power, wealth and influence. Considered one of the greatest films ever made, this is a unique opportunity to see it on a big screen. This special 85th release includes exclusive insight from film critic Leonard Maltin.

Exhibition On Screen: David Hockney at the Royal Academy of Arts

Go behind the canvas with the late celebrated British artist David Hockney in this acclaimed 2017 documentary about him. With intimate interviews and rare footage, the 80-minute film centers on the artist as he prepares for two exhibits at London’s Royal Academy of Arts. Hockney died on June 11 at the age of 88.

Black Country, New Road is a British rock band featuring six classically trained musicians. They’ll be playing songs from their latest album, “Forever Howlong,” and likely the two preceding albums during a Monday night show in Portland. The lead singer is Georgia Ellery, who also plays violin and guitar. “Forever Howlong” is a mesmerizing fusion of experimental, rock and jazz that incorporates Baroque pop and chamber rock. Don’t sleep on opening act Horsegirl, the Chicago-based rock rock trio of Nora Cheng, Penelope Lowenstein and Gigi Reece.
