Lawrence “Pete” C. Harley Sr.

BUXTON – Lawrence “Pete” C. Harley Sr., 86, passed away at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Scarborough on June 28, 2026.

He was born in Topsham, Maine, on August 1, 1939, a son of the late Luther and Dorothy (Darling) Harley. He grew up in Cundy’s Harbor and went on to proudly serve in the US Army as a tank operator in the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Throughout his working years, Pete worked as a carpenter building many homes throughout southern Maine. He also worked for the South Portland School system in their maintenance division.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in South Portland, and the Eagles of Westbrook.

Pete will always be remembered for the enjoyment he had working around his home and maintaining a pristine yard, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, boating and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Concetta “Etta” (Curatola) Harley; stepsons, Donald Hibbard and his wife Cathy and Richard Hibbard and his wife Diane; grandchildren, Allison and her husband Matthew, Brian, Chris, Ashley and her husband David; great grandchildren, Liam, Anna, and Shamus.

A graveside service will be held on Monday July 6 at 11 a.m. at Highland Cemetery, Highland Ave., South Portland.
