Sandy (Rosen) Jaeger

GEORGETOWN – Sandy (Rosen) Jaeger, 90, died after a life defined by love, family, and fierce advocacy. When Sandy met her husband, Ole, in May 1960, it was pure magic. Married that October in Denmark, they cherished every day of their 65 years together, never once viewing their different cultures or languages as obstacles.

Sandy brought that same boundary-breaking spirit into her community. An eternal optimist and steadfast idealist, she was a passionate activist who constantly lobbied, made phone calls, and wrote hundreds of letters to the editor. She knew that change is made by those who care enough to try. She listened eagerly to others’ perspectives, believing deeply that personal connection and understanding are what truly change minds. She committed her time, energy, and support to numerous organizations, including the Boy Scouts, Association of Special Children and Families, AARP, Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM), Age Friendly Georgetown, and the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer (MCFPC).

She is survived by her four children, Eric, Carl, Joseph, and Anna Sofia; Carl’s husband Leo Chyi and Joseph’s wife Tara; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and extended family in the U.S., Denmark, and Sweden.
