The Westbrook American reported on Jan. 14, 1959, that Mr. and Mrs. Albert Verrill of Westbrook had left to spend the winter in Florida. Mrs. Ione Barton of Brown Street in Westbrook bought the Brown Street School property from the city with a $2,200 bid. The school was destroyed by fire the previous March.
