Biddeford identifies recreation projects to tackle with bond funds but wants residents’ input

City voters approved a $6 million recreation bond in November. Now, they can help decide what work the money will be used for.

Since the Nov. 4 election, several Biddeford residents under 40 have taken on key leadership positions in the city.

The city charter prevents any postponement of the event, forcing officials to move the proceedings online amid Maine’s first snowstorm of the season.

Brian Phinney also served as acting city manager between February and August.

The project has faced significant backlash from the community over the past year.

As the city’s mayor-elect, LaFountain said he looks forward to working with the City Council and School Committee.

The commission will review and revise the city’s charter.

LaFountain pledged to rebuild confidence in the city’s government after beating incumbent Mayor Martin Grohman and Councilor Norman Belanger.

Biddeford voters turned out in droves on Tuesday to elect all 9 council seats.
