I don’t believe Sen. Angus King’s years-long approach of “reaching across the aisle” is working in today’s Washington.

It is possible that the tragedy of the moment in the Middle East will lead to a more civilized, sustainable relationship between Jews and Arabs. That is a thought we must cling to.
