Retail location to open in Scarborough on May 11

Scarborough resident Phil Coupe has purchased a Cartridge World franchise and will open a store at the former Donut Hole location at 245 U.S. Route 1 in Scarborough on May 11.

The store will provide the environmentally sound service of refilling inkjet and laser toner cartridges for both consumers and businesses throughout the region.

The service has caught on quickly in other states because refilling and rebuilding ink and laser cartridges saves consumers about half the cost of buying them new, Coupe said.

The store will be the first in Maine, said Coupe, who spent 34 years selling industrial fabrics to Maine’s paper mills.

“It’s a great cost-cutter and it’s good for the environment,” Coupe said. “So we look forward to serving small businesses and everyday consumers throughout Southern Maine with this service.”

The store will be open six days a week. It is located next to the Cumberland Farms in the Oak Hill area of Scarborough.

Coupe said the store’s grand opening plans will be announced in several weeks.
