On Saturday, May 14, the Maine Wildlife Park will be offering its first Wildlife Enrichment Workshop. Participants will create toys and other models specifically designed for some of the Maine native species that live at the park.

Wildlife ‘enrichments’ are items designed to stimulate each animal’s natural behavior, and encourage physical activity and interactions between wildlife housed together. We’ve done the research, now visitors can come create cool enrichments and watch some of their projects enjoyed by our wildlife when they are completed. Depending on the ages of those who pre-register, we may make a monkey fist from fire hose to hang in the mountain lion enclosure, stuffed pine cones for raccoons, and investigate a number of other enrichments. There is a $3 materials fee per person. We will begin at 10 a.m. and participants can expect to finish in about two hours. Anyone interested can call Sherri at 657-4977 ext.1; or email her at: sherrigee@maine.rr.com to register.
