The banking alongside a Hancock Road home on the Crooked River in South Casco eroded during last week’s heavy rains. The storms dumped upward of three inches of rain on most areas of southern and central Maine. Staff photos by John Balentine

The Crooked River was above flood stage as a result of last week’s rainstorm. Homes situated near the edge of the quickly flowing winding river were flooded in, with some cut off from the mainland by road flooding.

Crooked flood 3:

This camp road was impassable as a result of the heavy flooding along the Crooked River last week. Some homes were completely cut off due to the high water and residents were forced to leave their vehicles and walk through the high water to their homes. Such was the case for residents along this unlucky stretch of road off State Park Road in South Casco.
