Birthday Dinner (PHOTO)
Harry Lang celebrated his 89 birthday on May 22. Harry is now at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough recovering from hip surgery. The prime rib dinner was prepared and catered by Maggie and Dave Garry of Thatcher’s Restaurant.
Enjoying the wonderful meal and helping Harry celebrate were: Mr. and Mrs. Dave Garry, Florence Fossett, Lew and Joanne Weatherby, Will and Marcia Blanchard, Ruth and Bill Crane, Ed and Cathy Fortier, Harold Lewis, John Gavin, Nancy Crump, Red and Mrs. Norman Towns, Sue Plourde, Daniel and Madylan Briggs and Stephanie Coney. Many of you know Harry as the security person at the Windham Mall. He would certainly enjoy receiving cards. The address is the Maine Veterans Home, 290 US Rte. 1, Scarborough, Maine.
Open
The Windham Historical Society is now open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays on a regular basis. For more information you may call 892-1433 on Saturdays.
Supper
A public Ham and Bean supper will be held Friday, June 3, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Windham Hill United Church of Christ. The menu includes: ham, three varieties of baked beans, potato salad, tossed salad, macaroni and cheese, Italian bread, homemade pie, coffee, tea and punch. The donation is $6 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 and under.
Meeting
The Rebekah Lodge #71 will hold their meeting June 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall. This will be visiting officers night. In charge of refreshments are: Brenda Collett, Beulah Mason and Gerri Carro.
Home
Susan Hiltunen has returned home after she and a friend spent a week in Lincoln and Lee. Sue used to live there so she had a great time visiting friends and catching up on old news.
Back Home
Charlie and Carlene Brown are back home after spending a week in California. They went to Fresno to visit their son, Steve, and his wife, Lisa. They also went to Pasmo Beach so they could see the Pacific Ocean.
Graduates
Kimberly Morrell, daughter of John Morrell and Karen Shepard, recently graduated from Columbia University in Manhattan, New York. She received her Masters Degree in Science and Social Work.
