Nomination papers for two seats on the Cape Elizabeth Town Council and two on the School Board, both three-year terms, will be available in the Town Clerk’s office starting Friday, July 29. Petitions will also be available for a five-year term on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees.
Last year voters approved holding municipal elections in November, along with the statewide and national elections, in a move town officials hope will save money and increase voter turnout.
The Town Council terms of Anne Swift-Kayatta and Jack Roberts are expiring. Katharine Ray and Henry Adams currently occupy the expiring seats on the School Board. There are no term limits in Cape Elizabeth, so all current members are eligible to run again.
Candidates must be 18 years old, a registered voter and collect 25 to 100 signatures from other Cape voters to appear on the ballot. Candidates for the seat on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees must gather 35 to 50 signatures.
