Wednesday night, Aug. 10, the Scarborough Town Council graciously allowed concerned citizens, the motel owners and their architects to meet at their workshop regarding the “land swap.”

The architects presented several of their renderings to the council. The residents group presented their position statement pertaining to the Pine Point Road Relocation and the group’s position on the last condominium design presented by the architects on Aug. 1.

The resident group presented their concept drawing for a public turn-around and green space at the end of Pine Point Road. Scarborough is blessed with beautiful sandy beaches. We think our beaches are the best in the state of Maine. It would be nice to preserve them for future generations.

Public access to our beaches is very important. Everyone is not able to purchase shoreland property but deserves to have access to the ocean. This meeting certainly re-affirmed my belief that the democratic process for solving differences can work. Many thanks to the Scarborough Town Council for allowing this process.
