Did you watch the World Series?
David Murray, 62, Windham
“I watched half of it. It’s nice the White Sox won. There were a lot of bad calls, but being a Red Sox fan I wanted them to win. But I can understand why a lot of people didn’t watch. There’s so much emphasis on the players’ machoism. I’m just getting tired of some of the antics. They should focus on the game, not the money matters. There’s no loyalty. How many millions do you need?”
Lenny Weiss, 43, Windham
“Yes. It was a pretty intriguing match-up with Roger Clemens and his New England roots. I also liked the historical importance of it.
People probably didn’t watch because they’re not into it if the Red Sox or Yankees aren’t in it. They’ll either root for the Red Sox or hope the Yankees lose. Maybe they also don’t like (Fox announcers) Tim McCarver or Joe Buck. They treat everyone like they’ve never seen a baseball game before. I wish another station would get the Series.”
Theresa Ryan, 40, New Gloucester
“No, not this year. The Red Sox weren’t in it, so my heart wasn’t in it either. Maybe the novelty factor of another really long drought didn’t grab everybody like it did last year. “Curse reversed” signs were even up again. Sorry. Been there, done that.”
Anna Eaton, 59, Naples
“No, I didn’t watch it. I have enough family members who will tell me what’s going on with it. I ask my grandsons Donny and JJ, or my daughter in law Sujin from Thailand, or my oldest son Bob. They keep me informed so I don’t have to watch.”
Chris Horr, 21, Portland
“Yes, but I wasn’t rooting for any particular team. I was just watching for entertainment. I’m an avid Red Sox fan, so I didn’t want Houston to win because I don’t like Roger Clemens. And I didn’t want the White Sox to win because they eliminated the Red Sox.”
Jill Caskie, 38, Raymond
“No. I’m not a sports fanatic. I watch golf and football more than baseball.”
