Should the U.S. set a deadline for pulling troops out of Iraq?

Sharon Cox, 58, Raymond

“Absolutely not. I can see no advantage pulling out before we accomplish the mission. I don’t think it’ll make America safer by doing that.”

Peter Sullivan, 69, Bridgton

“No, doing that is giving solace to the enemy. The minute you set a deadline to get out they’ll just wait until we’re out and we’ll have another massacre like Vietnam.”

Karen Nethercott, 42, Parsonsfield

“No, I don’t. I want to make sure they take care of the terrorists. My son is 16 so depending on what happens he could go over there. But, even so, I’m very much on Bush’s side. We founded our country by standing by our convictions and fighting for them. I believe Bush is standing by his.”

Rebecca Hanaburgh, 37, Gray

“I do because I feel we’ve been over there a long time already. It seems like their country is starting to get a little more control of itself, so it seems like there needs to be a set time when our military comes home and Iraqis start governing their own country.”

Ken Reno, 33, Gorham

“Most definitely. I think we’re over there for the wrong reasons. I think President Bush had an agenda. I think he was trying to clean up for his father. We’ve lost over 2,000 troops and they shouldn’t be over there.”

Don Corkum, 40, South Windham

“I do not. I think terrorism has to be taken care of. Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. In my point of view he’s got them hidden. We’ll find them someday.”
