An all-night dance marathon to benefit STRIVE will be held Saturday, March 5, and Sunday, March 6, at the Sullivan Gym at the University of Southern Mainei?¿1?2s Portland campus.

STRIVE is a non-profit agency that helps teens and young adults with developmental disabilities.

High school students from more than 13 area high schools will be dancing to help raise funds for STRIVE. The marathon will feature bands such as Chronic Funk and Pan-Fried Steel. Dancers will have a chance to learn salsa, African and belly dancing from Elizabeth Richards and Stella Lado.

The non-profit organization, based on Foden Road in South Portland, has grown from being a Friday night gathering to Mainei?¿1?2s only program of its kind, serving nearly 300 young people through social, recreational and educational programs.
