The Cape Elizabeth Town Council voted to increase the rental fee for the Spurwink Church at their Jan. 9 meeting.
Cape residents will be charged $200 to rent the church, up from the current $175. Non-residents will be charged $300, up from the current $275. The fee was last raised seven years ago.
The church is the oldest town-owned building in Cape Elizabeth, constructed in the early 1800’s. It was initially called the South Meeting House. It is now used primarily for weddings.
