With the closing of the Konica photo processing plant in Scarborough, the future use of the 60,000-square-foot building is in question, but the owners believe it will not be vacant for long.

Last month the building, which is located on the northern end of Route 1 in Scarborough, was sold to Headwater Capital LLC.

Deb Napolitano, president and owner of Paragon Commercial Real Estate, the building’s real estate broker, said her company is searching for one or more tenants to fill the space and has not ruled out any options in terms of its future use.

She said the building could be redeveloped into an office building, a second floor could be added, or a parking garaged could be built.

At this point there are no direct prospects for the building, but given its location she does not foresee leasing the space to be a problem since it’s located near the highway and is highly visible from Route 1.

The Konica building on Route 1 has been sold.
